Nero 7: don't want to install NeroScout or How to remove it!?! - Club MyCE: I have installed nero 7 and now once out of 5 ot 7 times my computer crashes at start. It goes so fast I don't know the message. However, I tried it several times now with different pcs and all crash and show the same crash after nero 7 is installed.

So I presume at this point it is something that was not there in nero6 because that worked all well.

There are many options to NOT install different components but there is nothing that shows NOT to intall NeroScout. This is an indexing service that I really don't want. If we can disable the indexing with microsoft windows and office, there must be a way to uninstall that crappy Nero Scout thing. (By the way, I already tried 'disabling' neroscout!!! by unchecking the 'use it' thing!)

There’s a lot of discussion of radiation from the Fukushima plants, along with comparisons to Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. Radiation levels are often described as “ times the normal level” or “% over the legal limit,” which can be pretty confusing.

Ellen, a friend of mine who’s a student at Reed and Senior Reactor Operator at the Reed Research Reactor, has been spending the last few days answering questions about radiation dosage virtually nonstop (I’ve actually seen her interrupt them with “brb, reactor”). She suggested a chart might help put different amounts of radiation into perspective, and so with her help, I put one together. She also made one of her own; it has fewer colors, but contains more information about what radiation exposure consists of and how it affects the body.

I’m not an expert in radiation and I’m sure I’ve got a lot of mistakes in here, but there’s so much wild misinformation out there that I figured a broad comparison of different types of dosages might be good anyway. I don’t include too much about the Fukushima reactor because the situation seems to be changing by the hour, but I hope the chart provides some helpful context.

bit late to the party - however. I was having the same problem with mpegs. Certain mpegs would crash explorer. To start with al I needed to do was open the folder that contained the files and windows explorer would crash.
You can get it to stop crashing as soon as you open the folder by turning off thumbnail cacheing.
To do this

however I was left with another lesser problem. Everytime I clicked on the file windows explorer would crash. I was not playing or anything just highlighting with windows explorer. What solved this problem for me was unregistering media preview.
